Event to benefit Ridgway YMCA
Members of the Ridgway Elks Lodge No. 872 are organizing a steak fry event to benefit the Ridgway YMCA.The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1 from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. For $15 apiece, each patron will receive one 12 oz. to 14 oz. Delmonico steak, baked potato, vegetable, salad, roll, and dessert. The food will be sold from 5-9 p.m. with the band King Thaddeus performing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.According to J.R. Geitner, general manager at the lodge, there will be a maximum of 200 tickets sold. They are available at the YMCA, the lodge, and the Welcome Center in Ridgway."We've been doing steak fry since I've been here, probably the last 10 years," Geitner said. "We started out doing them for the Ridgway YMCA and the Ridgway Library, then all of a sudden everyone kept coming around and wanting to have them."Like many area residents, Geitner is quite impressed with the popular North Broad Street facility."That facility is really something, and that's what I've been telling people," Geitner said. "The other day when I went down to see [Ridgway YMCA Executive Director Mary Lynne Bellotti], I walked in there and looked in the room on the left, and there are people in there, I walk over to the balcony and there are people there. "I asked the young lady at the front desk where [Bellotti] was and I was told she was doing water aerobics. I went back outside and the whole parking lot was packed. The YMCA gets more activity than any other place in town."For more, pick up a copy of the Saturday, August 18, 2012 edition of The Ridgway Record.
