Evelyn M. Newquist

Evelyn M. Newquist, age 89, formerly of 6 West Cardott St., Ridgway, died Thursday morning, June 21, 2012, at Mesa Springs Nursing Home in Abilene, Texas.  
She was born Jan. 10, 1923 in Ridgway daughter of the late William (Kelly) and Rose (Forster) Fleming. She married Herbert W. Newquist on Sept. 4, 1948, he preceded her in death on May 5, 2009.  
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She had been employed by Speer Carbon for several years.
She is survived by one son, Dennis M. Newquist and his wife Amy of Abilene, Texas; four grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Bryn, Dayna; three great-grandchildren, Erik, Caelyn, Brady; and several nieces and nephews.  
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Gracen Saltzgaber; two brothers, Kelly and William Fleming; and two sisters, Carmelita Kocipher, and Mauriet'e Skibinski.  
Funeral and Committal Services for Evelyn M. Newquist will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Monday at 12 p.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Monday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the Service at 12 p.m. Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Leo Catholic Church or to the Ridgway Public Library.
