Eva M. Avery

Eva M. Avery, age 99, formerly of 2678 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012, at Hartland of Mentor in Mentor, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Bells Landing, Clearfield County, daughter of the late J.J. and Della (Hoover) Ferringer. She married Leonard C. Avery on June 28, 1938, he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1981.
She had resided in Ridgway since 1938 and was a former Johnsonburg resident. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgway, a member of the Montmorenci Grange, the Elk County Historical Society, the Ridgway Senior Center, and a volunteer for the Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. She had been a 1932 graduate of the Johnsonburg High School.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Jane Lamphier and her husband Larry of Painesville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Thad Lamphier and his wife Jaclyn, and Geoffrey Lamphier; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Pistner and Julia Benson; four brothers, L.Z. Bell, Carl, Elmer, and Louis Ferringer.
Funeral Services for Eva M. Avery will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Cantaral, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to the Activities Department of Hartland of Mentor, 8200 Mentor Hills Dr., Mentor, Ohio 44066 or to the First Presbyterian Church, 119 Center St., Ridgway, Pa. 15853.
