Elkers take 29-stroke win over Brockway

Ridgway freshman Josh Roselli overcame a double bogey on the first hole Tuesday afternoon to take medalist honors at the Elkers earned a 29-stroke win over the visiting Brockway Rovers.

Despite finding trouble off the first tee Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Mill Golf Course, Ridgway freshman Josh Roselli finished with a 41 to grab medalist honors in a 29-stroke victory over the visiting Brockway Rovers.
Roselli was joined by junior Josh Mitchell, who shot a 42. Ridgway sophomore Jake Klawuhn followed with a 45, junior Jesse Reynolds with 46, and junior Matt Aiello with 47 strokes for a team score of 221.
Ridgway sophomore Mtichell Gilmore also was out on the course and brought home a 48; he was joined by freshman T.J. Schlimm with 50 and sophomore Mason Stark with 53.
Scoring for the Rovers was Brett Carr at 47, Sam Hawkins at 48, Fabio Fortunato and Dausen Crawford with a pair of 51s, and Darren Olivio with 53 for a team total of 250 strokes.
Andy Genevro and Alec Bouch were also on the course and carded a 54 and 56, respectively, but did not factor into the scoring.
"We went with a younger lineup [Tuesday]," said assistant coach Eric Herzing as the Elkers started three juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen.
"Josh Roselli overcame a double bogey on the first hole to become our fifth different medalist in our four matches. In just his second varsity match as a freshman, that was very impressive.
"We are going to need a total team effort on Thursday when we head to Kane to take on a very good Johnsonburg team."
