Elizabeth J. "Betty" Dietz

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Dietz, 86, of 106 Linwood Ave., St. Marys, died on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at DuBois Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 15, 1925 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Davis Cheatle.
On June 14, 1947 in St. Mark's Church in Emporium, she married James H. Dietz, who survives.
Mrs. Dietz was a lifelong resident of the area and was Presbyterian by faith. She graduated from St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1943. She worked for several years at Powdered Metal Products and also at Uni-Mart. She enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling. 
In addition to her husband of 64 years, James H. Dietz, she is survived by one daughter, Lorraine, Mrs. Joseph Asti of St. Marys; two sons, James E. Dietz of St. Marys and Kenneth Dietz and his wife Gloria of St. Marys; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Dietz and his wife Jena of St. Marys and Nate Dietz of St. Marys; and three brothers, Wilfred "Dewey" Cheatle and his wife Theresa of Emporium, Walter Cheatle and his wife Adeline of St. Marys and Harold Cheatle of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Charles Cheatle.
Relatives and friends of Elizabeth J. "Betty" Dietz are invited to attend a memorial service at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 North Michael St., St. Marys, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012  at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
