Elizabeth H. Verbeck

Elizabeth H. Verbeck, 89, of 8 Center St., Ridgway, died Saturday morning, June 23, 2012, at her residence.
She was born March 1, 1923 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Roy B. and Jennie (May) Ely. She married Thomas J. Verbeck, Sr. on Sept. 28, 1946, he preceded her in death. She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and the C.C. of A. She was a 1941 graduate of the St. Leo High School.
She is survived by one son, Thomas J. Verbeck Jr. and his wife Linda of Pennsylvania Furnace; two daughters, Nancy E. Peterson and her husband George of Ridgway, Louise M. Smith and her husband Roland of Philipsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Jane Verbeck and in infancy Catherine Anne Verbeck; two sisters, Margaret Ely and Jane Price; and one brother, Robert Ely.
A Memorial Mass for Elizabeth H. Verbeck will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Ross Miceli, Resident Priest at St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will in St. Leo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A Wake Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Leo School, the Ridgway Public Library or to the Ridgway Fire Department.
