ST. MARYS â€“ "Be. yourself, Be.inspired, Be.eccss" is just one spin on the Elk County Catholic School System's recently launched marketing campaign.
"We want to really promote that we are regional and that we are the Diocesan school system. So when those parishes are thinking about Catholic education, they are thinking about us," said Mary Meyer, ECCSS director of development.
Within the upcoming days and months, residents may begin noticing an array of billboards, banners in school parking lots, newspaper ads and radio and television commercials promoting the school system.
Various aspects of the campaign are expected to gradually be unveiled over the next three months.
The new television commercial began airing during the early-morning hours of Monday, Jan. 30, the start of Catholic Schools Week. It features closeup headshots of students, faculty, staff, volunteers, parents, alumni, coaches, grandparents and future students and is set to upbeat music.
The commercial may be viewed on the be.eccss.org website, which was specifically created to coincide with the campaign and highlights the many facets of the school system. It also offers a link to the full school system website of www.eccss.org.
Billboards situated throughout the region will display various ads throughout the next three months.
ECCSS President Fr. Michael Ferrick was joined by several high school students in creating several radio commercials recorded at The River 98.9. Students were recorded reciting various taglines as well as asking questions to Fr. Ferrick and Meyer about the new school system.
The new marketing campaign was unveiled during a launch gathering held at ECCHS in which faculty, staff, students, board members and parents were invited to view all of the new material. Each attendee received a glass etched with the new "be." logo.
Meyer added that nearly 5,000 flyers were included in area parish bulletins, which were distributed on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Nine hundred T-shirts were distributed to all students, faculty and staff, including fifth grade students at St. Boniface School and eighth grade students at St. Leo's, as they were encouraged to wear them during Catholic Schools Week. Each T-shirt featured the new "be." logo, with students receiving yellow T-shirts and faculty and staff receiving maroon shirts. Preschool students received magnets with the new logo on it as well.
Placemat ads, seen at local eateries, also feature the new ad, along with a QR or barcode which patrons can scan with their cellphone and they will automatically be connected to the campaign website.
In addition, every school features a "be." floor graphic in their entrances as a way of uniting the buildings.
"This isn't just about our campaign, it's about our brand," said Lindsey Straub, ECCSS director of communications, adding this was the first time the school system has undertaken the creation of a brand.
