DuBois Area track teams sweep ECC squads

April 6, 2011

Abbi Petrosky competes in hurdles action from last week.

DuBOIS – The Elk County Catholic track and field teams were swept by the DuBois Area teams in a meet held at the DuBois Area High School complex.
The Lady Crusaders lost by a 105-45 score, while the Crusaders lost to the Beavers by a 97-53 score.
“Today’s meet was a test of our spirit and determination and overall we came through things well,” said ECCHS coach John Schneider.
“Times and distances will never be impressive on a day like this, but the desire to go out and give our best effort was on display. In the long run, that kind of effort will be what it will take to be successful later in the season. Hopefully, things will get milder soon and I think we will see some significant improvement,” added Schneider.
Jared Schaut was a quadruple winner for the Crusaders, as he won the 200 dash, triple jump, 300 hurdles and was a member of the winning 1600 relay team.
Harley Thompson was a double winner, taking the1600 and 3200 runs.
Single winners for the Crusaders were Jake Herbstritt in the high jump and Dan Steudler, Michael Jacob and Mitchel Haberberger as members of the winning 1600 relay team.
Megan Dornisch was a double winner for the Lady Crusaders, as she won the shot put and discus.
