Dorothy M. Nelson

Dorothy M. Nelson, age 93, of 675 Montmorenci Rd. and formerly of 16 South St., Ridgway, died Friday evening at the Ridgmont Assisted Living Facility. She was born February 27, 1918 in Sharpsburg, daughter of the late J. Walter and Vera (Knudsen) Deet. She married Arthur F. Nelson on May 12, 1939 he preceded her in death on May 15, 1965. She had resided in Ridgway for most of her life and had also lived in the Villages, Fla. for four years. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, a past member of the C.D. of A., was a bridge player, enjoyed traveling and loved sports - the Pittsburgh teams and Notre Dame. She was a graduate of the Ridgway High School. She had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Internal Revenue - the Pa. Sales and Use Tax Bureau for 25 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen A. DiNardo and her husband Ralph of The Villages, Fla.; Kathy M. Pevaroff and her husband Sherwin of Hendersonville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Michael, Corinne, Kim, Catrina, Brian, Brent; Eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Herzog of Ridgway and Marjorie Larson of Sterling, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece Peggy Reed.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Robert A. Nelson; one grandson Jim DiNardo; one brother Jack Deet; two sisters, Mary Deet and Betty Deet.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Nelson will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
