Dennis M. Rakieski

Dennis M. Rakieski, 61, of 951 German Settlement Rd., Ridgway, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center, as the result of a logging accident.
He was born June 14, 1950, in Ridgway, the son of Alex and Ida Schmiedel Rakieski. On Aug. 21, 1971, he married Marcelyn Withrow, she survives. Mr. Rakieski was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ridgway Sportsmens Club. He graduated from Ridgway Area High School, Class of 1968 and from Williamsport Area Community College in 1970. He was a self-employed logger.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daniel Rakieski (Lori) of St. Marys, Scott Rakieski of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Mitchell, Alex, Danielle, Adam, Erik, Lauren, Dean, and Gabriel Rakieski, all of St. Marys; four brothers, Joe Rakieski (Becky) of Ridgway, Rob Rakieski (Penny) of Ridgway, Ken Rakieski (Karen) of Gifford, and James Rakieski (Marion) of Frenchville; and by a sister, Brenda Carter of Pittsburgh.
He was predeceased by his parents and by a son, Gary Rakieski.
Funeral services for Dennis Rakieski, will be held in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, pastor. Interment will be in Oakmont Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, from 2-4p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
