David S. Lowdermilk

David S. Lowdermilk, age 75, of 111 Filmore Ave., Ridgway died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Ridgway, son of the late Donald (Bud) and Kathryn N. (Leilous) Lowdermilk. He married Marlene V. Mann on Dec. 8, 1956, she survives. He had resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a 1953 graduate of the Ridgway High School. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Carpenters Union Local 947 where he was secretary, a member of the Ridgway Fire Department and had been on the Board of Directors, served as foreman and secretary, and a 35-year member of the Capital City Hose Company.
He had played the snare drum in the Yellow Jackets Drum and Bugle Corps, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Steelers and Penn State wrestling and baseball.
He had been employed by the Carpenters Union Local 947 for 50 years.
Surviving besides his wife are the following children: David S. Lowdermilk and his wife Missy of Wallingford; Jo Milbut and her husband Tony of Harrington, Del.; Donald Lowdermilk and his wife Gina of Darien, Ill.; Darin Lowdermilk and his wife Beth of Nokesville, Va.; five grandchildren, Brian, Rachel, D.J., Donny and Drew; and one sister, Shirley Lowdermilk of Ridgway. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service for David S. Lowdermilk will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Officiating will be Rev. David C. Roddy, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Ridgway Fire Department or to the Ridgway Public Library. Arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
