David C. “Tubby” LaBenne

David C. “Tubby” LaBenne, 85 of Frostproof, Fla., formerly of DuBois, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Avon Park, Fla. He was the husband of the late Helen (Platt) LaBenne who died Sept. 30, 2001.
Born March 7, 1927 in DuBois he was the son of the late Leon E. and Beatrice (Foster) LaBenne.
Mr. LaBenne was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. David was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II. He was employed as a foreman with Jackson China and later with Owens Brockway for seven years until his retirement. David enjoyed hunting, carpentry and yard work.
Surviving are three sons: David Allen LaBenne and his wife Donna, Ridgway, Robert Charles LaBenne Sr. and his wife Cathy, DuBois, and Joseph Earnest LaBenne and his wife Dianne, Treasure Lake, DuBois; his companion, Shirley Theobald, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard LaBenne, DuBois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and seven brothers: Jocelyn Marshall, Ruth Loweranitis, Betty Rusonis, Roy LaBenne, Rene LaBenne, Julian LaBenne, Leon LaBenne, William LaBenne, Frank LaBenne, Eugene LaBenne.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of David C. “Tubby” LaBenne will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., 142 W. Long Ave., DuBois, PA 15801 with Rev. Richard Whitaker officiating. A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Honor Guard. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to DRMC Home Health and Hospice, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
