Dave Rodgers, age 80, a former Ridgway resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife, Cathy, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Steve Rodgers (Pam), of Singapore; Mike Rodgers, of Cary, N.C.; Doug Rodgers, of Rockville, Md.; and Jan Haley (Jeff), of Raleigh, N.C.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Rodgers graduated from North Carolina State University and spent 38 years working in human resources for the forest and paper products industry, the final 12 years at Penntech / Weyerhauser in Johnsonburg. Throughout his life, he taught Sunday school classes in many of the churches he attended. After his retirement, he had a rewarding experience as a lay chaplain with Marketplace Ministries and as a volunteer chaplain at Forsyth Medical Center. He loved working in the garden and was a certified Pennsylvania Master Gardener; he also enjoyed golf, tennis, and reading. A service of celebration of his life will be held in Winston Salem at Maple Springs Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, followed by interment at Thomasville City Cemetery.
