County prepares for ID requirement

September 18, 2012

County officials and poll workers are quickly preparing for the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and possible struggles with the state's new voter identification requirements.
"We did a dry run for the primary election but coming up in November, everybody must show acceptable forms of photo ID," said Kim Frey, director of the county's election/voter registration office. "The law has taken effect but it is still in the courts, the lower courts moved it to the state's Superior Court, and we're waiting anxiously to hear what they have to say. We have to move forward per law as it will stand for the November election.
"We're still waiting on the decision but we have to proceed since the law is in place at this point. We will be having poll worker training later in October for those who will be asking for ID."
All photo IDs must contain an expiration date that is current, unless noted otherwise.
