County offering oil and gas field scholarship

May 7, 2014

As part of their Act 13 Marcellus Shale Impact Fee distribution, Elk County is allocating funding annually to scholars from Elk County who will be attending college to earn a degree in the natural gas shale industry.
“We’re offering two $5,000 scholarships for students who will be attending college or trade school for oil and gas industry studies,” Elk County Commissioner June Sorg said. “It doesn’t have to be a younger student, we’re also accepting adults for that as well. We thought this would be a big help for our area and a good way to move forward with this Act 13 money.”
