Commission trying to fund RPO

With budget constraints looming and a shortfall in funding, officials at the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission [NCPRPDC] are looking at different ways to fund their Rural Planning Organization [RPO].
"We've historically been very successful with our abilities to match our federal funding and state funding programs," said Eric Bridges, executive director at North Central. "We've been able to negotiate with some of our federal partners which allows us to move away from a local cash contribution. In my opinion, we've done a very good job with trying to be as efficient as we possibly can.
"By local dollars, in this particular instance I mean the available dollars that the organization has to serve for matching purposes-- dollars that as they come in are not extensively encumbered or linked to any one particular program, therefore, discretionary. A vast portion of those dollars that come in are through our per capita contributions throughout the six counties."
