Christmas play kicks off tonight

December 14, 2011

Curtains will open at 7 p.m. tonight and Friday for the St. Leo Catholic School students' performance of “Touch of An Angel” in the brand new Social Hall.
Third-grade teacher and director Joey Kepple said the students are getting very excited for the big night and have been working hard.
“They pulled it together better [Wednesday] than I expected them to,” Kepple said. “They are right on target every year. I always fret and think this is going to be the year that this is going to flop, but I think not now.”
Kepple said the show's central focus is about the birth of Christ and is based on the belief that angels have been present with us as far back as the Old Testament and continue on into our lives today.
“We will have different angels featured throughout the show,” Kepple said. “Different angels will portray biblical angels that have appeared and touched the lives of people.”
Kepple had added a couple new scenes to this year's production including a “silhouette scene” and a “black light scene” to help demonstrate the presence of angels.
Modern songs will also be incorporated like ABBA's “I Believe In Angels” and another contemporary song entitled “Calling All Angels.”
On Friday night and possibly Thursday, a five-year-old guest soloist will perform in Latin “Panis Angelicus” which translates to “Bread of Angels.”
