Cheyney D. “Duke” Mitchell

Cheyney D. “Duke” Mitchell, 43, of 507 Willard St., Ridgway, died unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital in Altoona.
He was born on June 15, 1967 in Ridgway, the son of the late Samuel and Patricia Russell Mitchell.
Duke was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church. and he had been employed at Sylvania. He enjoyed video games and electrical gadgets.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne Mitchell of Brockway; a sister, Tina Samick of Ridgway; two brothers, Steve Mitchell of Ridgway and Jeff Mitchell of Indiana; a niece, Krystal Samick of Ridgway; an uncle, James Russell (Linda) of Ridgway; and an aunt, Susan Jabs (Dave) of Connecticut.
Funeral and committal services for Cheyney D. "Duke" Mitchell will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 11 a.m. in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Officiating will be Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor of St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in Thayer Memorial Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Dialysis Unit at Elk Regional Health Center, 763 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, PA 15857.
