Cathy Rodgers

Mrs. Cathy Rodgers, age 79, a former Ridgway resident, went to be with her Lord Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, in Raleigh, N.C.
Mrs. Rodgers graduated from Gardner-Webb University. She lived in Ridgway for 12 years, was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and volunteered at the hospital. She worked for the American Cancer Society and enjoyed traveling, singing, walking and family gatherings. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Davie Lee Rodgers.
She is survived by four children, Steve Rodgers (Pam), of Houston, Texas; Mike Rodgers, of Cary, N.C.; Doug Rodgers, of Rockville, Md.; and Jan Haley (Jeff), of Raleigh, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Michele Steckbeck and Jason Rodgers; and three great grandchildren, Brianna, Abigail and Ryan Steckbeck. Her siblings are Louanna Sturm and Chandler Prince.
A service of celebration of Mrs. Rodgers’ life will be held at Maple Springs Church in Winston Salem, N.C., at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012. Officiating will be Rev. Anne Elmore and Rev. Jeff Coppley. A private interment will follow at Thomasville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Maple Springs United Methodist Church, 2569 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106.
