Carmela T. (Millie) Caggiano

Carmela T. (Millie) Caggiano, age 79, of 517 Montmorenci Ave., Ridgway, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 20, 2013 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 2, 1934 in New York, New York, daughter of the late Gerard and Theresa (Piccolo) Galante. She married Michael A. Caggiano on Sept. 25, 1954 in St. Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. She had resided in Ridgway since 1954 and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. Millie was an avid golfer, crafter and reader. She was a 1952 graduate of the Central Commercial High School in New York. She had been employed by the Ridgway Borough Revitalization Program for 19 years.
She is survived by her husband, Michael A. Caggiano of Ridgway; seven children, Lorraine (Michael) Benedict of North East, Maureen (Steve) Martin of Ridgway, Camille Caggiano of Lisle, Ill., Michael (Jennifer) Caggiano of Cullman, Ala., Gregory (Shelly) Caggiano of Ridgway, Pamela (Dan) Freeburg of Wilcox, Anthony (Debbie) Caggiano of Monroeville; 19 grandchildren, Maria Inks, Danielle Fisher, Steven Martin, Sean Martin, Kimberly Carter, Krystal Hardy, Joseph Klebine, Anna Klebine, Jillian Caggiano, Claire Caggiano, Taylor Fuge, John Fuge, Ryan Caggiano, Kayla Weis, Ryan Weis, Benjamin Freeburg, Jefferson Freeburg, Marc Caggiano, Troy Caggiano; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Galante of East Windsor, N.J.; one sister, Geraldine Castillo of Ridgway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Anthony, Salvatore, Dominic, Pasquale, William, and Edward; and one sister, Jenny.
A Memorial Mass for Carmela T. Caggiano will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday evening, Aug. 23 from 6-8 p.m.
