Bryson M. Schutte

Bryson M. Schutte, 87, of 3351 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway, died Monday morning at Elk Haven Nursing Home. He was born April 17, 1925 in California, Pa., son of the late Bryson and Lucille (Ward) Schutte. He married Joan L. Logan on June 28, 1950, she survives.
He had resided in the Ridgway area for the last 35 years and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, NRA, Masonic Lodge #313 in Indiana, Pa., and was a Penn State Alumni. He was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a veteran of World War II. He had been employed as the Superintendent of Schools in the Johnsonburg School District for 10 years before his retirement.
Survivors include his wife Joan L. Schutte of Ridgway and the following children: Barbara A. James (Paul) of Crestwood, Ky., Bruce M. Schutte of Arlington, Md., Ward L. Schutte of Columbia, Md., Lori C. Berry (John) of Bel Air, Md.; five grandchildren, Christa, Katie, Taylor, Jessica and Alexis; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Aidan and Grace; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Schutte and one sister Bette Gene Underwood.
A Memorial Service for Bryson M. Schutte will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemens Burial Detail. Officiating will be Rev. Mary Norton, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church.
Burial will be in Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela, Pa. There will be no visitation.
Memorials if desired can be made to the Grace Episcopal Church at 216 Center St., Ridgway, PA 15853 or to the Community Nurses, Inc. at 757 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, PA 15857. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
