Borough to update water policy

The Ridgway Borough Council discussed several new updates to the borough water policy during a council work session held Thursday afternoon. The new updates will come into effect May 1 and include the elimination of shutoff notices from the billing process.
Billing dates will be changed to the 21st of each month, or the following Monday should the 21st fall on a weekend, approximately one week later in the month than the current water and refuse due date.
According to the policy, customers paying bills later than 72 hours following the due date will have their service shut off. Furthermore, shut off notices will no longer be delivered in order to alleviate the piling up of back charges.
