Borough targets blighted homes

September 14, 2012

JOHNSONBURG – Finding a solution for many of the abandoned and dilapidated properties throughout the Borough of Johnsonburg has been an ongoing problem.
Discussion over the matter was sparked during Monday afternoon's regular council meeting from a complaint filed regarding a property along Penn Street.
According to borough manager Mary Polaski, the Johnsonburg resident who filed the complaint brought up the issues of high grass and an incomplete front porch.
Polaski said the borough has been unable to verify contact with the Penn Street property owner.
"We sent another letter to the store that she owns just to try to get the notice out to them," Polaski said. "We still haven't gotten anything back."
