The Borough of Ridgway will work to improve its emergency response plans with the Ridgway Fire Department in response to the brutal storm that swept through the area Thursday afternoon, July 26.
Ridgway Borough Council member Rich Parrish detailed the recommendations of the Fire, Police, Property and Equipment Committee during Monday night's regular council meeting.
According to the report, borough manager Martin Schuller reviewed the past storm damage of the fallen trees on the borough streets and alleys with committee members.
Parrish said the borough foremen went to several locations and the fire department was on scene removing trees off borough right-of-ways.
Schuller told committee members that there needs to be more coordination between the borough crew and the fire department not only in the event of severe storms but also for flooding and other natural disasters.
The Committee recommended that the borough foreman and assistant foreman meet with Ridgway Fire Chief John Wygant to coordinate a plan.
