JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Borough Council held their regular meeting Monday afternoon to approve a number of bids.
Council voted unanimously in favor of approving a $16,600 bid proposed by Paul Asti to renovate an existing bathroom in the Community Center into a handicap accessible one.
The construction will include the gutting of the existing restroom; installation of all needed plumbing; window framing; installation of a solid core door with push and kick plates; two fluorescent grid lights; ceiling fan; moisture resistant drywall to be finished and primed; drop ceiling; handicap accessible shower unit, faucet and toilet; and ceramic floor tile.
"It's a major project," said recreation director Ronald King. "Everything runs through the cement walls and it has to be done if we are ever going to apply for any additional funding for projects."
Administrative assistant Rachel Kilhoffer reported giving out three specifications and only receiving one bid in return.
A bid of $28,200 was approved from Allied Systems of Kane to replace the piping system for the Community Center pool.
"This is for piping into the pool and all of the associated piping in the basement that comes off of the heating system," King said.
King noted that Allied Systems had installed the last heating systems for the community building "eight or nine years ago."
