Bogert House may be condemned

March 13, 2014

One of Ridgway's prized links between past and present may soon be a distant memory of more prosperous times.
According to borough manager Kim Zimmerman, the Bogert House, ravaged by fire Jan. 28, 1990, is in violation of multiple code violations.
"I had a meeting with some people about it and it’s in such poor shape that it should be condemned," Zimmerman said. "It’s a blighted property, it is not up to code at all, and being told that it’s going to be turned into a hotel in a few years doesn’t cut it when it’s been sitting there since 1990 rotting away.
"I gave 30 days to see some progress to it, anything, and nothing’s been done."
