Big Brothers Big Sisters dinner held

In honor of National Mentor Month, the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Jefferson, Elk and McKean County held a buffet dinner and presentation on Tuesday at Aiello's Cafe in Ridgway. Following a dinner of roast beef, chicken and stuffed shells, Sara Sutter and Heidi Stahlnecker gave a presentation on the success stories of BBBS in the surrounding area. "We are an evidence-based program," Stahlnecker said. "Long-term research studies have confirmed that after spending just one year in the BBBS program, children are less likely to use illegal drugs or to engage in fighting or anti-social behavior."
