Betty L. Walters, 89, of 78 Horner Rd., Wilcox, died Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2014 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 22, 1924 in Wilcox, daughter of the late Robert and Ida Magnuson Whippo.
She married Clyde T. Walters Sr. on July 3, 1942 in Smethport, and he survives.
She resided in Wilcox all her life and attended Wilcox High School. She was a member of Wilcox Presbyterian Church. She was an excellent cook, baker, and was most comfortable being a homemaker. She was also employed by Stackpole Carbon Co. in St. Marys for five years.
In addition to her husband at home, she is survived by a son, Clyde T. Walters Jr. and his wife Mary Jo of St. Marys; a daughter, Donna L. Cornelius of Kane; five grandchildren, Scott Walters, Wendy Walters, Rick Francen, Mark Francen, and Jeff Francen; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Walters; four brothers, Paul, Levi, Harry, and Carl Whippo; and three sisters, Violet Von Arx, Martha Morgan, and Ruth Olsen.
A Funeral Service for Betty L. Walters will be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Cantaral, Pastor of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
