The Ridgway YMCA "Shape the Future" capital campaign, "pool project," is one step closer to its $1.5 million goal following a substantial donation Wednesday afternoon from CNB Bank in Ridgway.
According to Ridgway YMCA Executive Director Mary Lynne Bellotti, this marks the first large donation the YMCA has received for the campaign.
"With the community's support I know that this project will become a reality for the community of Ridgway," Bellotti said.
The Ridgway YMCA pool has been offering a variety of life-saving skills, family night swims, after-school activities, and aquatic aerobics for nearly 100 years.
The pool was constructed in 1920 and is in need of renovations due to revised regulations from The United States Department of Justice for Titles II and Title III of the mandatory Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA]. All public accommodations and commercial pool facilities must be modified to comply with the new 2010 guidelines that include new accessibility standards for swimming pools.
Bellotti and the current board of directors have been preparing for these modifications to the pool.
A Fitness and Aquatic Capital Fund has been set up at Northwest Savings Bank of Warren. Donations can be made to The Ridgway YMCA “Shape the Future” Capital Campaign.
