2013 Elk County Fair kicks off

The 39th annual Elk County Fair opened Tuesday afternoon at the fairgrounds in Kersey. The traditional Opening Ceremony began at 6 p.m. with brief welcoming statements by local and county government officials and a baked good auction. New royalty was also crowned. The 2013 Elk County Fair Queen is Alexa Marciniak, 16, a junior at Johnsonburg High School. She is the daughter of Dave and Jane Marciniak. The Junior Queen is Audrey South, 14, a freshman at St. Marys Area High School. She is the daughter of Brad South and Jim and Leigh Aaron. The runner-up was Alexis Swanson of Kersey. The Princess is Gina Bush, 9, a fourth-grader at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School. She is the daughter of Dennis and MaryAnn Bush. The runner up was Anna Lundin of Kersey. The fair is taking place this week from 4-10 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday from noon-11 p.m.
