Johnsonburg softball shuts out Brookville in three innings

JOHNSONBURG – It's not every day a softball team can score 16 runs in one inning but that's exactly what Johnsonburg softball did Thursday afternoon.
Johnsonburg scored 16 runs in the second inning and sent 20 hitters to the plate which would be enough to take a 16-0 win over Brookville at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg.

JOHNSONBURG – A four-run eighth inning helped propel Brockway to an 11-7 victory over the Johnsonburg Ramettes in eight innings Tuesday afternoon at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg.

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg boys tennis lost 6-3 to Brockway in action Tuesday afternoon at Johnsonburg Area High School.
At No. 1 singles, James Matson won 6-3, 6-0 over Mason Walters of Johnsonburg. In the No. 2 singles match, Tyler Foradori defeated Tyler Martonik of Johnsonburg, 6-1, 6-3.

Lady Dutch defeat Johnsonburg Ramettes 8-0 Monday

The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team improved to 2-0 on the season as they defeated the Johnsonburg Ramettes 8-0 Monday afternoon at the SMAHS softball field. This was the season opener for the Ramettes.
The Lady Dutch scored at least one run in five of the six innings to record the win.
"This was our third time on a field this season," said St. Marys coach Bill Makufka.
"I thought we played a nice game but we still have the gym rust. We weren't up to game speed," said Makufka.
"I thought (Andria) Copelli threw well and we ran the bases well and had timely hitting," said Makufka.

Crusader tennis blanks Johnsonburg 9-0

The Elk Catholic Crusader tennis team improved to 2-1 on their young season with a 9-0 victory over the Johnsonburg Rams in a match played at Memorial and Benzinger Parks on Monday afternoon.
"It was a beautiful day and it was great to get outside and play a full match and some exhibition matches," said ECC head coach Aaron Straub. "It was good to play in relative warm conditions as we will have some tough matches in warm or hot weather, and it is a process to get your body acclimated to those conditions."
Straub added that he thought his squad played well.

Johnsonburg boys basketball program honored with banquet

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg basketball program honored its teams with a banquet Sunday afternoon at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Varsity head coach Bill Shuey introduced all of the players and presented the awards. Senior Brian Feronti won the Bill Fulton Memorial Scholarship Award and the Coach’s Award.

Ridgway wrestling honors varsity, JO teams with banquet

Ridgway wrestling honored its varsity team with a banquet Saturday night at Aiello’s Cafe.
Varsity head coach David Fordoski spoke about a phrase which came out of the season-opening win at Brockway this season, “We’re back.”
“Last year I talked about improvement,” Fordoski said. “This year’s phrase I got from our very first dual meet of the year. Nobody was talking about Ridgway wrestling. Friends said Brockway was going to beat them. We beat them. That was a sign of the season. That’s our phrase this year.”
