Lady Dutch soccer falls to Lady Elkers 3-0 Monday

The Ridgway Lady Elkers soccer team scored three second half goals to defeat the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch by a 3-0 score Monday afternoon at the SMAHS soccer field.
The first 40 minutes of the game saw both teams have opportunities but neither could connect on them.
"Ridgway outplayed us today. They wanted it more," said St. Marys coach Eric Bridges.
"We were a little complacent but all the credit goes to Ridgway, they deserved it today," added Bridges.

Lady Crusaders down Lady Raiders 3-2

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders came away with a tough 3-2 victory over the Brookville Lady Raiders on Monday afternoon in a match played at Benzinger Park.
"In general I'm happy with the win. It was a good, gutsy win to push through," said ECC head coach Kelli Brannock. "Brookville didn't give up. Obviously they came to play today. It took our defense a little bit to get going, but once they really settled in in the second half, I think that really helped the momentum."

Crusaders rally for 3-2 win over Raiders

KERSEY – In their past two games the Elk County Catholic Crusader soccer team relied on their defense to fend off attempted rallies by their opponents late in the game. On Monday night it was the Crusaders who were trying to rally late, and their offense came through as they overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the Brookville Raiders 3-2 in a match played at Angela Huey Memorial Field.
"I am very proud of the kids and their never-quit effort tonight," said ECC head coach TJ Weaver. There were many obstacles they had to overcome to get the outcome they desired."

Crusaders down Wolverines, 50-23

SHEFFIELD – The Elk County Catholic Crusaders improved to 4-0 on the season with a 50-23 victory over the Sheffield Wolverines on Saturday afternoon in a game played in Sheffield.
"I warned the kids. I said, 'This is a tough place to come up and win a football game.' It is," said ECC head coach Tony Gerg. "They (Sheffield) have a lot of athletes."
"They're a good team, they really are," Gerg added. "We had a couple good plays and were able to break a couple holes open and we capitalized on that."

JOHNSONBURG – In the second quarter, Coudersport couldn't hang on to the ball and had the game slip away too.
Three straight fumble recoveries by Ridgway on Falcons' possession ballooned a 14-0 margin into a second half with the mercy rule as the Elkers defeated Coudersport 42-6 Friday night at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg to start the season 4-0.
It's Ridgway's first 4-0 start since the 1992 season.

Ramettes roar back to topple Lady Wolves, 3-1

JOHNSONBURG – Despite an early one-set deficit, the Johnsonburg Ramettes roared back Thursday night to take a 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-19) win over visiting Kane.
"I think we need to build on this win," Johnsonburg head varsity volleyball coach Bill Shuey said following the win which pushes his team's record to 2-3. "We showed that we don't quit. Kane really had the momentum and were doing some good things but we were able to fight back. We kept fighting and we have to keep doing that as we move on.

Ridgway girls soccer wins second consecutive match

Ridgway girls soccer won their second straight match with a 5-1 victory over the Smethport Lady Hubbers Wednesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Ridgway’s defense was not challenged much during the match as the Lady Hubbers mustered just three shots on goal agains the Lady Elkers.

Ridgway boys soccer moves to 6-1

Ridgway boys soccer extended their winning streak to four matches after a 3-1 win over Smethport Tuesday afternoon at Francis S. Graninetti Elementary School.
"We got work to do. We've been finding out some things about some people," Ridgway coach Todd Voss said. "I think we got some real good motivation here to win on Friday. That was a good win for us. That was a young team but Peter (Butler) always coaches well."
