Ramettes take consolation game

Johnsonburg softball took a 9-2 rain-shortened victory over Brookville in the consolation game of the Elk County Softball Tournament Saturday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
The game was ultimately called in the top of the sixth inning due to increasing rain and worsening field conditions.

Crusaders reach tourney title game with win over Elkers

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders advanced to the championship game of the 16th annual Elk County Baseball Tournament with a 12-2, five inning victory over the Ridgway Elkers Friday afternoon at Berwind Park.
The Crusaders will meet the St. Marys Flying Dutch today at noon at Berwind Park in the championship game while the Elkers are to meet the Johnsonburg Rams at 10 a.m. this morning in the consolation game.

Bennett fans 12 as Dutch rally over Rams

Much of Friday's Elk County Tournament opening round matchup between the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen and Johnsonburg Rams was an offensive struggle as the game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning as the Rams were able to push through their lone run. It seemed like that might be the only score of the day as both teams continued to strand base runners, but then the Dutchmen put together an impressive rally in the top of the seventh, coming from behind to win 3-1.

Ridgway high school trap shooting faces area opponents

The Ridgway high school trap shooting team took on four area opponents in recent trap shooting action.
Ridgway took on St. Marys North in a recent trap shooting match on April 16. St. Marys North won 124-106 over Ridgway in the overall match.
For St. Marys, Troy Caskey had the top score with a mark of 23. Eric Uhl was next with a 22 and Noah Werner finished with a 21. Doug Watkavitch had a 20 while Tyler Donachy and Josh Eckert finished with scores of 19. The top six scores counted for both sides.

Johnsonburg hosts Junior High Invitational

Johnsonburg hosted the annual Junior High Invitational Saturday at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The 4x100 relay team of Maddie Cowan, Cassidy King, Emily Fullum and Erica DeLullo won the race, set a meet record and broke a 20-year-old school record with a time of 54.72 at the invite Saturday.

Ridgway baseball wins second straight, defeats Kane 16-5

Ridgway baseball used a nine-run second inning to break Monday's game open in a 16-5 five-inning victory over Kane at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.

Ramettes use offensive outburst in doubleheader sweep over Sheffield

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Ramettes added two more to the win column Monday and scored runs at an explosive pace in sweeping a doubleheader against Sheffield.
The Ramettes won the first game 10-0 in five innings with starting pitcher Jenna Hoffman throwing a one-hit gem; the team followed that performance with an 18-5 win over the Lady Wolverines, also in five innings.

Johnsonburg Rams honored with banquet

JOHNSONBURG – The accomplishments are many and players like Cole Peterson and Cameron Grumley are so rare.
Peterson and Grumley’s accomplishments were highlighted and celebrated as part of the Johnsonburg boys basketball banquet held Sunday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Johnsonburg varsity head coach Bill Shuey spoke about the tandem.

The Johnsonburg Ramettes made sure to get out of the rain quickly Friday afternoon.
Johnsonburg used a patient hitting attack and an eight-run second inning to take a 13-0, five-inning victory over Oswayo Valley at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.

Bradford uses late innings to drop Rams, 6-4

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams were in a slippery and wet driver's seat Friday until a pair of sloppy innings caused them to stumble to the finish line in a 6-4 defeat against visiting Bradford.
With on and off rainfall through the game, the Rams held a 3-0 lead until the Owls used a pair of three-run innings to take the lead.
