Ridgway boys basketball used a late run in the second half to overtake Kane 44-29 in action Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
The Wolves would not go away for the first three quarters, trailing just 28-21 starting the fourth quarter.
"Kane came in here, they're well-coached, they're ready to go," Ridgway coach Anthony Allegretto said. "Coach Gasbarre is doing a great job with them. They have a new attitude, they really hustled, they played hard the whole way. We couldn't shake them. That's a pretty good ball club there."

Ramettes defeat Lady Elkers, 41-26

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg girls basketball won 41-26 over Ridgway Wednesday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Defense ruled the first quarter as the Ramettes held just a 4-2 lead after four minutes of play.
"Our defense, I was really proud of how the girls were playing defense," Ridgway coach Stacy Kifer said. "They're really stepping it up. What we need to do is we need to try to get the offense tweaked now. We got to work on our rebounding, we still have to get position and get these girls to recognize weak-side rebounding."

Rams use strong fourth quarter to hold off Dutch

JOHNSONBURG – The Rams picked up the victory Monday night over St. Marys but the Dutch made it anything but easy for Johnsonburg.
The Rams outscored St. Marys 22-10 in the fourth quarter to blow open what had been a close game for three quarters to pick up a 69-52 win Monday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.

Aggressive Dutch wrestlers use 6 falls en route to 57-17 win

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch had little trouble dispatching the Ridgway Elkers Saturday evening in a 57-17 win.
"Overall I thought our guys were really fired up for this match," said Dutch head coach Dominic Surra. "It's always a rivalry and it really doesn't matter how the records are, both teams just show up for this match. I thought our guys really wrestled hard, we were aggressive, went for quick takedowns, and I thought even in the matches that we lost, Ridgway had to earn those matches.
"It was a good night for us, a good team effort."

Rams dominate Kane

Last year’s PIAA runner-up Johnsonburg showed Friday night’s crowd in the Wolves Den that the 2014 version is a darn good team. The Rams ran out to a big lead early and rolled to a 69-30 win.

Rams win EQT Energy Classic

ST. MARYS – One tournament championship wasn't enough for the Johnsonburg Rams this weekend.
After claiming the Elk County Tournament championship Friday night, Johnsonburg won the EQT Energy Classic Saturday night with a 74-54 victory over Bridgeport out of West Virginia in the boys championship game at St. Marys Area High School.

ST. MARYS – The accolades keep coming for Johnsonburg boys basketball.
The Rams claimed the Elk County Holiday Tournament for the second straight year with a 64-43 win over Elk County Catholic Friday night at St. Marys Area High School.
"It is very special," Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said. "I know the seniors, they end the career here in the holiday tournament as a winner. It's always special."
Johnsonburg advances to play Bridgeport (WV) tonight at 8 p.m. for the EQT Energy Classic championship at St. Marys Area High School.

Ridgway boys basketball downs Central Mountain

Ridgway boys basketball extended their winning streak to four with a 58-49 victory over Central Mountain Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Ridgway coach Anthony Allegretto looked at this game with the Wildcats with some concern as Central Mountain is a Quad-A school in boys basketball.
"They're so physical and I knew they were going to be physical coming in and they always have shooters," Allegretto said.

Johnsonburg wrestling falls to Coudersport

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg wrestling lost 54-24 to Coudersport in dual meet action Thursday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Just four matches were wrestled on the mat between the two teams. Johnsonburg won two matches by forfeit while Coudersport took seven bouts via forfeit.
Coudersport won by forfeit at 113 pounds as Trever Olney had his hand raises. There was no match at 120 pounds. Chris Kennedy of Johnsonburg won by forfeit at 126 pounds and Andrew Fry did the same for the Falcons at 132 pounds. Nick Ragosta took a forfeit victory for Coudersport at 138 pounds.
