Lady Dutch volleyball sweeps Ridgway Lady Elkers

St. Marys volleyball won 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 26-24) over Ridgway in varsity action Monday night at Ridgway Area High School.
“We’re starting to get back to where we were in the first half of the season,” St. Marys coach Ken Vogt said. “We’re still not quite there. We need to be faster and we just need to get our heart back, I think.”

Ridgway girls soccer falls to Clarion, 5-1

After a 1-1 halftime score, Clarion girls soccer tallied four goals in the second half to take a 5-1 win over Ridgway Monday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
“They’re a very good team,” Ridgway coach Greg Maddalena said. “We changed our formation. We finally figured out the formation that we wanted to go with against them. We came here and went to a 4-4-2, I thought we played them real well.”

Ridgway boys golf wins third straight AML championship

Ridgway boys golf won the AML championship for the third straight time as the Elkers defeated Brookville 399-444 Saturday afternoon in an 18-hole match at Laurel Mill Golf Club.
Josh Roselli of Ridgway was the overall medalist with 73. Nate Burgeson finished with a 77 and TJ Schlimm followed with an 80. Mitchell Stark finished with an 83 and Mike Sorge carded an 86 to round out the top five.
Nick Simon finished with an 89 and Ben Ames had a 91 for Ridgway. Cory Oknefski had a 94 for the Elkers.

Crusaders come from behind to beat Northern Cambria 24-20

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders scored 15 fourth quarter points Saturday afternoon to come from behind to beat the Northern Cambria Colts by a 24-20 score at Dutch Country Stadium.
The important points came with 1:22 left in the contest when Noah Werner scored on a four-yard run and Kyle Huff added the PAT making the score 24-20.
"This was a team victory," said ECCHS coach Tony Gerg. "It was a huge win because it assured us of a winning season after going 0-9."

Ridgway football pounces on Brockway mistakes for 28-14 win

At critical moments in the second half, Brockway couldn't hang on to the ball.
Ridgway pounced on the Rovers' mistakes and pounced on the victory.
Ridgway forced three second-half turnovers, two in the Elkers' red zone, en route to a 28-14 win over AML South foe Brockway Friday night at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg.

Ridgway boys golf wins Elk County Tournament

Ridgway boys golf won the Elk County Boys Golf Tournament held Thursday afternoon at Bavarian Hills Golf Course.
It was the third straight year the Elkers won the county tournament.

Crusaders defeat Ridgway boys soccer, 2-0

Elk County Catholic boys soccer took advantage of a pair of chances and were able to take a 2-0 victory from Ridgway Thursday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
"I feel we played well against Ridgway," Elk County Catholic coach T.J. Weaver said. "They're a good opponent. They're going to do well in the playoffs. I'm pleased with the way we played. I'm looking forward to Senior Night next Monday which is always good for the kids at home against Smethport."

Ridgway boys golf defeats ECC

Ridgway boys golf won 199-208 over Elk County Catholic in a match held Wednesday afternoon at Leaning Pines Golf Course.
Mitchell Stark of Ridgway was the overall medalist for the Elkers with a 36. Josh Roselli finished with a 38 and TJ Schlimm carded a 40 for Ridgway. Nick Simon carded a 41 and Cory Oknefski rounded out the top five for Ridgway with a 44.

Dippold sets new girls' course record, Crusaders beat Kane

The Elk County Catholic cross country squads hosted runners from Kane on Tuesday afternoon during a rainy meet at Benzinger Park.
The Crusaders defeated the Kane Wolves by a score of 15-44. Kane did not have enough runners to field a girls' team.
ECC swept the top five spots in the girls' race with senior Tori Dippold leading the way. Not only did Dippold win the girls' event, but she also came in fourth out of all runners. She finished in a time of 18:36 which is a new girls' course record.

Lady Crusader volleyball downs Lady Dutch, 3-0

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team remained unbeaten in regular season play as they defeated the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch 3-0 in a match played Tuesday at the ECCHS gym.
Elk Catholic took the first set by a 25-12 score. The second set was back and forth right to the end as Elk prevailed 28-26. In the third set ECC won by a 25-17 score to win the match.
