Vogt gets 100th win as Crusaders walk off 10-0 over Carmichaels

SLIPPERY ROCK – ECC head coach Fr. Eric Vogt notched his 100th win on Thursday evening as the Crusaders kept their undefeated season alive, walking off 10-0 in five innings against the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes in a PIAA Class A quarterfinal contest played at Jack Critchfield Park at Slippery Rock University.
According to Vogt, for the most part the game went according to plan for the Crusaders.

Johnsonburg track and field honored with banquet

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg track and field team had their many successes celebrated at a banquet Monday night at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall.
Varsity head coach Rene Wenner expressed appreciation to her assistant coaches which are Brian Hinton, Chad Yurchick and Brent Barraclough along with junior high head coach Dan Carnovale and junior high assistant coach Mike Haight.

Crusaders beat Cranberry 13-3 to win D9-A crown

BROCKWAY — The Elk County Catholic Crusaders came up with eight runs on seven hits and four walks in the home half of the fifth inning to capture the District 9 Class A baseball championship over the Cranberry Berries by a 13-3 score.

Crusaders edge DCC 4-3 in eight innings to advance to title game

BROCKWAY — The Elk County Catholic Crusader baseball team waited until the last moment Tuesday afternoon to tie the game with DuBois Central at 3-all in the bottom of the seventh inning, then got a single from Dan Singer to score Dan Stauffer in the eighth inning to send the Crusaders to the District 9-A championship game with a 4-3 victory.
Elk Catholic trailed 3-1 going into the home half of the seventh inning. With one out, Singer singled and moved to second on a single by Jeff Wehler. With two outs, Brandon Schlimm doubled scoring both Singer and Wehler to knot the game at three.

Weisner ends high school career on top

ST. MARYS – It was a busy weekend for Kennedy Weisner.
Not only did Weisner graduate from Elk County Catholic High School on Sunday afternoon, but she did so as the salutatorian of her class. The day before, she added to her already impressive resume by adding two more PIAA state titles to her collection with victories in the girls' Class AA 1600-meter and 800-meter runs, repeating as state champion in both events.

Pair of Johnsonburg track and field athletes finish with state medals

Two Johnsonburg girls track and field athletes finished with state medals on the second day of the PIAA track and field championships held Saturday at Shippensburg University.
Ashley Imbrogno finished third in the girls javelin with a throw of 133-2, setting a new school record in the process. Imbrogno bettered her seed of 130-8 by over two feet to win the third-place medal.

Ramettes edged by DCC in playoffs

DuBOIS – DuBois Central Catholic found a way to overtake the Ramettes again.
DCC scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally from a 5-3 deficit en route to a 6-5 victory Thursday afternoon at DuBois Central Catholic in the quarterfinal round of the District 9 Class A softball playoffs.
DCC downed Johnsonburg three times this season and twice rallied from deficits to defeat the Ramettes. Last Wednesday, DCC scored six runs in the sixth and eighth innings to win 16-10 over Johnsonburg.

Ramettes advance past Lady Lions

JOHNSONBURG – It didn't have to be pretty or have a ton of style points but the Johnsonburg Ramettes were happy to take a playoff victory.
Johnsonburg overcame errors early and held off a furious comeback in the seventh inning to take a 10-8 victory over Clarion-Limestone Monday afternoon at Knothole Park in the first round of the District 9 Class A softball playoffs.

JOHNSONBURG – DuBois Central Catholic mounted a furious comeback in the late innings Wednesday to complete a 16-10 win in eight innings and spoil Johnsonburg's Senior Night celebration in the process.
The Ramettes were staked to an 8-3 lead after five innings only to squander it away with a mistake-riddled six-run sixth inning by the Lady Cardinals to pull ahead by a run. Johnsonburg tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before DCC knocked in six more runs in the eighth inning
