Ridgway volleyball lost 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 26-24) to Bradford Tuesday evening at Ridgway Area High School.
Even with the 3-0 defeat, Ridgway coach Janet Redmond said the Lady Elkers played a much-improved match, and their best match of the season.
Ridgway girls soccer opened with the lead in the first minute of the match and never looked back in an 8-1 victory over the Kane Lady Wolves Monday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Ridgway football's done something the Elkers haven't seen in more than a decade.
Ridgway moved to 2-0 for the first time since the 2000 season with a 42-8 victory over Cameron County Friday night at Memorial Field in Ridgway.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ It may have not looked promising to start with but Johnsonburg volleyball made sure by the end of the evening, the Ramettes had a different result than the season opener.
After a 3-0 loss to Sheffield Tuesday evening, Johnsonburg rallied after a first-set loss for a 3-1 (15-25, 25-10, 25-14, 25-22) victory over Ridgway Thursday evening at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Ridgway boys soccer moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-1 victory over the Kane Wolves on a hot Thursday afternoon.
"It's my fault for them not being totally in shape but I had to give them [Wednesday] off," Ridgway coach Todd Voss said. "It's just heat. They came out and did what they needed to do to win."
Ridgway opened the game quickly and had a 1-0 lead in the third minute as freshman Alec McManus dribbled home a shot about 10 yards out and was able to bury it in the right corner for the game's first goal.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Johnsonburg Ramettes were only able to pick up one singles win Thursday on the tennis courts en route to a 5-4 loss to visiting Brockway.
"This is the second match that we had a great chance to win as it actually came down to a couple points," said Johnsonburg head varsity tennis coach Gregg Dauber. "I'm disappointed in the results but not in the effort."
Ridgway girls soccer ended the season last year with a loss against DCC in the playoffs.
Tuesday afternoon, a new season equaled a new result for the Lady Elkers.
Caitlyn Viglione scored a hat trick while Julie Alford and Rachel Smith added goals for Ridgway in a 5-0 win over DuBois Central Catholic at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
COUDERSPORT â€“Â Despite the best efforts of the Crusader football team, there was one objective they were unable to accomplish on Friday night: successfully dumping a bucket of ice on head coach Tony Gerg in celebration of his first coaching victory. Everything else seemed to go the team's way though as they romped to a 32-0 shutout over the Coudersport Falcons in a contest played under the lights at C.A.R.P. Park in Coudersport.
Ridgway boys golf remained undefeated on the season with a 196-251 win over Brockway Thursday afternoon.
Ridgway was led by overall medalist Josh Roselli with a 36. TJ Schlimm finished with a 38 and Ben Ames carded a 39.
