Ridgway Elkers edge Johnsonburg in overtime

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams appeared to be on the brink of an upset after three quarters Friday night.
After the fourth quarter and overtime, the Rams walked off the court just upset after a loss.
Ridgway overcame a nine-point second half deficit to take a 38-29 overtime victory over the Rams at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Johnsonburg scored just five combined points in the fourth quarter and overtime. The Rams finished the game with 17 turnovers.

Comeback bid falls short as Ramettes top Ridgway

Johnsonburg took advantage of turnovers and poor shooting in the second quarter and down the stretch Friday against Ridgway and held on in a raucous second half for a 38-32 win.
Senior Ashley Imbrogno paced the Ramettes with 16 points, including a halftime buzzer-beater of at least 50 feet, and 12 rebounds while Nicole Myers and Brianna Quiggle had seven points each.
The Lady Elkers had two players in double figures with Jessica Kifer (11 points) and Hannah Park (10 points) but were unable to overcome a lackluster second quarter and cold shooting in the last few minutes of the game.

Ridgway Lady Elkers edged by Eisenhower

Ridgway girls basketball were at the brink of overcoming the Eisenhower Lady Knights.
A last-second shot to tie the game was wide of the mark as Eisenhower defeated Ridgway 42-39 Wednesday night at Ridgway Area High School.

Lady Wolves run by Ramettes 41-18

The Kane Lady Wolves basketball team outscored the Johnsonburg Ramettes 27-1 over the second and third quarters of Wednesday night’s game in the Wolves’ Den on their way to a 41-18 win.
The Lady Wolves used a balanced scoring attack to get out to an early lead when Johnsonburg’s shooters went ice cold.

Ridgway wrestling downs Cameron County for second time

After going 0-2 against Cameron County in head coach David Fordoski's first two years, the Elkers and Fordoski have paid the Red Raiders back in the past two weeks.
After a 50-20 win over Cameron County at the Coudersport Duals, the Elkers added a second win over the Red Raiders with a 52-20 win Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.

Ramettes return to form with 50-31 win over Brockway

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg sophomore Nicole Myers had the hot hand Tuesday night with 20 points as the Ramettes toppled visiting Brockway 50-31.
The home team took control of the game going into halftime with 19 points in the second quarter, and held on in the second half for the win.

Crusaders use strong second quarter to beat Dutch 64-48

The Elk Catholic Crusaders took advantage of a strong second quarter to hand the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen a District 9 League 64-48 loss Saturday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
The Dutch held a 15-11 lead after the first eight minutes of play. In the second quarter Elk Catholic took advantage of nine St. Marys Area turnovers to outscore the Dutch 21-9 and open a 32-24 halftime lead. In the second half, Elk outscored their hosts 32-24.

Lady Crusaders defeat Lady Dutch 55-27

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders extended their winning streak to 11-0 with a 55-27 victory over the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch on Saturday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
ECC led all the way and was up 16-5 at the end of the first quarter, 26-17 at the half, and 42-20 after three.
"I thought in the first half we played with a lack of energy," said Elk County Catholic head coach Ken Pistner. "We came out a little bit flat in the first half. I thought in the second half we played much better basketball. We cut down our turnovers in the second half and played with a little more energy."

Big 2nd quarter lifts Elkers over Wolves

The Ridgway Elkers used a big second quarter to pull away from the Kane Wolves in boys’ basketball action in the Wolves’ Den on Friday night. The visitors led by two after one quarter but put up 17 points in the second while holding the Wolves scoreless during the quarter to take a big lead into the locker room and went on to win 47-27.
