Crusader tennis blanks Johnsonburg 9-0

April 14, 2015

The Elk Catholic Crusader tennis team improved to 2-1 on their young season with a 9-0 victory over the Johnsonburg Rams in a match played at Memorial and Benzinger Parks on Monday afternoon.
"It was a beautiful day and it was great to get outside and play a full match and some exhibition matches," said ECC head coach Aaron Straub. "It was good to play in relative warm conditions as we will have some tough matches in warm or hot weather, and it is a process to get your body acclimated to those conditions."
Straub added that he thought his squad played well.

Varsity head coach David Fordoski spoke about a phrase which came out of the season-opening win at Brockway this season, “We’re back.”
“Last year I talked about improvement,” Fordoski said. “This year’s phrase I got from our very first dual meet of the year. Nobody was talking about Ridgway wrestling. Friends said Brockway was going to beat them. We beat them. That was a sign of the season. That’s our phrase this year.”
