SHARON â€“ Johnsonburg senior Jesse Wolfe has gotten over the hump again.
After winning his first district title, Wolfe finished third at 125 pounds to advance to the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships.
He won 1-0 over Nate Stidham of Hickory in the third-place match to qualify.
â€śItâ€™s an awesome feeling,â€ť Wolfe said. â€śJust like last week, it was either be a 3-time runner-up or be a champion. This week, be a 3-time fourth-place finisher for states. I just stepped it up both weeks. Now Iâ€™m going on to states, it feels real good.â€ť
Winifred S. Stockdill, 83, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, and formerly of Johnsonburg and Wilcox, died on Saturday evening, March 5, 2011, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1927, in Alcola-Fairmont City, daughter of the late Homer L. and Lena Bowser Adams.
On Sept. 18, 1946, she married Arthur E. Stockdill, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1974.
Ronald Jones Stewart, 94, of Main Street, Brockway, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his residence.
Born on May 29, 1916, in Brockway, he was the son of the late William A. Stewart, Jr. and Mary I. (Jones) Stewart.
He was a veteran of the both the United States Army and the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was retired from the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by a sister, Alberta Watters of York.
He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings.
SHARON â€“ Three area wrestlers have made the semifinals and Ridgway senior D.J. Skraba earned his 100th win at the Class AA Northwest Regional Championships Friday at Sharon High School.
D.J. Skraba picked up his 100th career victory with a 4-0 decision in his first-round consolation match over Josh Lewis of Youngsville. Skraba had previously lost a 5-4 decision at 160 pounds to Ryan Kio of Port Allegany in the quarterfinals.
Corey Bush (119) of Ridgway is in the semis along with Jesse Wolfe (125) and Max Zimmerman (135) of Johnsonburg.
Dennis A. Dinsmore, 80, of 547 Church St., St. Marys, died on Friday, March 4, 2011 at DuBois Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born July 21, 1930 in Kersey, a son of the late Frank and Gertrude Schneider Dinsmore.
On Jan. 25, 1958 in St. Mary's Church, he married the late Martha Garnic Dinsmore, who preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2008.
Ridgway and Johnsonburg wrestlers are ready for the PIAA Class AA Northwest Regional Championships which begin today at Sharon High School.
At 119 pounds, Corey Bush (31-2) of Ridgway (3-time regional qualifier) will start in the quarterfinals against the winner of the match between Zack Cokely (12-14), the fourth-place finisher from District 9 and Jesse Rivera (24-11) of Grove City, the fourth-place finisher in District 10.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ With his 100th win and runner-up finish at the recent district competition in the books, Johnsonburg senior grappler Max Zimmerman is looking for further improvement as he heads into the regional competition today at Sharon.
Despite eclipsing the 100-win plateau in February, Zimmerman came into the sport relatively late.

First was his 100th win, then his first district title. Now a first trip to Hershey could be within his grasp by Saturdayâ€™s end.
Jesse Wolfe joined the 100-win club in the final bout of a 5-0 performance at the Coudersport Duals on Jan. 8. He then followed up with his first district title last Saturday at 125 pounds, a 3-0 decision over Mike Bauer of Clarion. It was Wolfeâ€™s second win over Bauer this season.
SueEllen M. Paladino, 49, of 825 Mefferts Run Rd., Wilcox, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following an illness of several days.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1961 in Stroudsburg, daughter of Harry and the late Mary Ellen Gilliland Lloyd.
She married Robert J. Paladino on June 25, 1983 in St. Luke's Church, Stroudsburg, who survives.
Cheyney D. â€śDukeâ€ť Mitchell, 43, of 507 Willard St., Ridgway, died unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital in Altoona.
He was born on June 15, 1967 in Ridgway, the son of the late Samuel and Patricia Russell Mitchell.
Duke was a lifelong Ridgway resident. He was a member of St. Leoâ€™s Catholic Church. and he had been employed at Sylvania. He enjoyed video games and electrical gadgets.
