JONES TWP. â€“ A 59-year-old Kane man suffered major injuries Monday afternoon on state Route 321 at Clarion Street in Jones Township after a collision with an 18-wheeler.
ST. MARYS â€“ On Saturday, gun rights advocates gathered nationwide to commemorate the first annual "Gun Appreciation Day," an event organized by gun advocacy groups in response to president Barack Obama's initiating 23 executive actions aimed at curbing gun violence.
William J. MacDonald, 80, of 238 Monterey Avenue, Ridgway, died at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 19, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 5, 1932 in Ridgway, a son of the late Maurice and Mary Kielocker MacDonald.
On April 24, 1965 in St. Leo's Church, he married Filomena "Dolly" Magrini MacDonald, who survives.
He was a graduate of Ridgway High School. He retired from E&G Auto Parts after many years of service.
Linda M. Gigliotti, 65, of 408 High St., Johnsonburg, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2013, at UMPC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 22, 1947 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Bronislaw and Anna Simchick Golebieski.
On Oct. 30, 1976 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, she married David Gigliotti, who survives.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1965 and Villa Maria College in 1972.
ST. MARYS â€“ The St. Marys City Police Department reports that charges have been filed against a female juvenile who claimed to be the victim of a kidnapping attempt outside St. Marys Area High School on Wednesday night.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Lights out.
After the Johnsonburg Rams (13-1) stormed the floor to pre-game introductions complete with spotlight theatrics in a dark gymnasium, the show continued as they shot lights out for an extensive early lead, and eventually prevailed in a 49-29 win Friday night over visiting Ridgway (11-3).
Johnsonburg girls basketball won 59-14 over Ridgway Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Johnsonburg had a balanced scoring attack with Chelsea Benson leading the way with 13 points. Brittany Watts and Kathryn Polaski had 10 points and Rhianon Fowler had nine points.
"We worked on a couple plays," Johnsonburg coach Mike Zilkofski said. "The press worked well for us. We needed a little work on that and it helped."
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Senior Project Manager Travis Long of Gwin Dobson & Foreman [GD&F] reviewed various public water supply options as part of a consent order and agreement proposed by the Department of Environmental Protection [DEP] during a Johnsonburg Municipal Authority meeting Tuesday night.
Marie E. Lewis, 91, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of Weedville and 101 N. Mill Street, Ridgway, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
She was born on March 4, 1921 in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Hilary and Ethel McClintick Lewis.
