An informative presentation about the status of current drug trends in the region and the nation at large was held in Ridgway Tuesday with a state law enforcement agent delivering a staunch warning to those in attendance about the pitfalls of prescription pills and heroin use being back on the rise.
A 75-year-old Ridgway man is charged with promoting prostitution, indecent assault and harassment after he allegedly fondled a woman inside the elevator of a Ridgway apartment building, before offering her money for sex.
Johnsonburg baseball moved to 3-0 on the season with an 11-0 win in five innings over Ridgway Tuesday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Even a steady downpour in the first inning Tuesday afternoon did not deter Ridgway freshman Hollie Schneider as she cruised to a 2-hit 18-2 victory in four innings on the road against Johnsonburg.
"We're happy with Hollie [Schneider] and she did terrific," said Ridgway head varsity softball coach Gary Gerber II. "She only got two thirds of an inning in before getting rained out the last time she went out so it was good to see what she has in her first full game.
"She threw the ball well but she had some mental lapses in the fourth inning."
As the temperature began to cool down, the softball bats began to heat up at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
Elk County Catholic softball would finish off the game with a 10-run seventh inning en route to a 24-6 win over Ridgway Monday afternoon.

John Prencipe Jr., age 76, a Naperville, Ill. resident since 1980, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville, Ill.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1936 in Ridgway to John and Mary (nee Piccirillo) Prencipe, Sr.
John grew up in Ridgway and graduated from Ridgway Central High School in 1954. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and served as a radio operator for 8 years. He received an honorable discharge in 1963 achieving the rank of Airman 1st Class.
