RIDGWAY - With the majority of Elk County's 3,000 military veterans currently traveling up to two hours for hospitalization - and an hour for a checkup - through US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), a local advocacy group is working to bring a clinic here that would cater to the county's servicemen and women.

Recently Shellyâ€™s Floral Creations and Wilcox General Store opened its doors on Marvin Street. There is a variety of items available, and owners Shelly and Henry Ronneberg say they are always taking requests.
Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, and Tagalongs, have landed a Ridgway woman on probation after she pled guilty in Elk County Court Monday to the theft of $595 in proceeds from the sale of her daughter's Girl Scout Cookies.
ST. MARYS â€“ A Kersey man charged with breaking into a house and stealing guns from a bedroom while the homeowners slept was sentenced in Elk County Court Monday to serve six to 24 months behind bars.
In March, Timothy Brian Pesce, of Kersey, was convicted by an Elk County jury of charges stemming from a Dec. 19, 2010 incident in which a Fox Township homeowner walked in on Pesce in the act of burglarizing her home.
LUMBER TWP. â€“Â A Muncy man died Monday afternoon after two vehicles collided during wet roadway conditions on state Route 120 in Lumber Township, Cameron County, approximately one mile west of the Village of Cameron.
Monsignor John Raymond Snyder, 86, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at his residence in Erie. Â
Monsignor Snyder was born in Erie on Oct. 16, 1926, the son of John R. and Rosemary Eckl Snyder. He was raised in Ridgway and attended Ridgway public elementary school and graduated from St. Leo Parish High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps.
Angeline Marie (Zuccolotto) Gradizzi, 95, of Kylers Corner Rd., Kersey, entered into eternal life early Sunday morning, June 30, 2013.
She was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Coal Hollow, daughter of the late Guido and Catherine Baruffalo Zuccolotto. On Dec. 23, 1939, at Holy Cross, Brandy Camp she married Rudolph (Dolpho) Gradizzi who predeceased her Dec. 30, 1982.
She had one son, Jerome Gradizzi, who predeceased her in December 1992.
Mary Lou Fleming, age 92, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, formerly of Ridgway, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 30, 2013.
WEEDVILLE â€“ State police have arrested a man they say broke into the Weedville residence of an ex-girlfriend before passing out drunk on her couch while waiting for her to come home.
