The smallbore team competitions concluded Monday at the Ridgway Rifle Club as part of the NRA National Silhouette Championships.
The overall champion in smallbore rifle was Team Belgrade Air Shooting Sports. The team consisted of Laura Goetsch, Cathy Winstead-Severin and Susan Peery Rice. The three finished with a combined total of 211, five more than second place.
The overall runner-up in standard rifle was Team Mexico with team members Angelica Kuess Davila, Enrique Kuess Sr. and Enrique Kuess Jr. Team Mexico finished with an overall score of 206.
BRADFORD â€“Â Some of the top recently graduated football players from Pennsylvania and New York faced off on Saturday evening at Parkway Field in Bradford in the 40th annual Big 30 Don Raabe Charities Classic All Star Football Game, and the Pa. squad defeated New York 53-12.
Warren Area Senior High School's Austin Jerman and Port Allegany High School's Matt Bodamer combined to account for around 430 yards passing in the game with Johnsonburg Area High School's Mitchell Holmberg catching seven passes for 92 yards and Ridgway Area High School's Zac McKnight catching three passes for 74 yards.
The NRA National Silhouette Championships kicked off Sunday morning with the first of three days of competition in the smallbore standard rifle competition at the smallbore range of the Ridgway Rifle Club.
The match winner for Sunday and overall leader after the first day of competition was Enrique Kuess Jr. (Laredo, Texas) as he hit 39 out of a possible 40 targets. Angelica Kuess Davila (Laredo, Texas) was second overall and the top female finisher with a score of 38. Cathy Winstead-Severin (Joplin, Mo.) was third overall with a score of 37.
William H. Brunner, 77, of 3419 Grant Rd., Ridgway died Saturday afternoon, August 3, 2013, at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
He was born November 13, 1935 in Ridgway, son of the late Walter H. and Hattie (States) Brunner.
He married Lois J. Goodreau on April 24, 1954, and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2008.

Corporal Greg Agosti, fire marshal for the Pennsylvania State Police reported Friday afternoon that the July 26 fire at a Ridgway Borough maintenance facility and A storage shed owned by the Tri-County Rails to Trails has been declared arson.

Annette C. Shuttleworth, 68, of 123 Robin Rd., Kersey, died on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 27, 1945 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Celestino "Jiggs" Caimi and Elda Zani Caimi, who survives, of Kersey.
On May 4, 1994, in Las Vegas, she married Bruce E. Shuttleworth, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School. She was a retired employee of Brockway Glass retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service.
Patsy (Pat) Sette, age 83, of Erie, died Thursday evening, Aug. 1, 2013 at the Erie VA Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Lockport, N.Y., son of the late Frank and Concettina (Curato) Sette. Patsy is the husband of Anne Marie Piccirillo, whom he married on Feb. 15, 1958 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway.
He was a graduate of St. Leo High School, the Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, Minn., the American College of Technology in Chicago, Ill., with an A.D. in Cereal Chemistry, and Wilson School of Cake Decorating in Chicago, Ill.
