The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and Ridgway Fire Department report investigating the origin and cause of a fire that occurred at 5:38 a.m. Tuesday morning at Heritage Farms, 28235 Lake City Road in Spring Creek Township.
The Elk County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a recycling development and implementation grant for approximately $83,000 during a bi-weekly meeting.

Carmellena M. "Lena" Scilingo, 85, of Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys and formerly of 321 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born on March 4, 1927 in Johnsonburg, the daughter of the late Paul and Carmella Borelli Scilingo.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life and attended Holy Rosary School in Johnsonburg. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. She had been an Avon representative for several years.
The 14th Annual Ridgway Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous was in full force Monday as artists were in action at all locations in downtown Ridgway.
On Tuesday morning, Scott Dow will present a seminar regarding "flow and movement in sculpture" at the American Legion from 9 a.m. until noon before carving at all locations (South Broad, Center and Court Streets; County Squirrel Outfitters; Keystone True Value; former Ridgway Record building parking lot) until 5 p.m.
The Borough of Ridgway is considering the sale of parking permits to county employees, business owners and other members of the community.

Lisa M. DeMay, 44, of 229 Mill St., Johnsonburg, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 15, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.
She was born on July 12, 1968 in St. Marys, the daughter of Donald and Lucille Asti Haight.
She married David A. DeMay on Aug. 25, 1990 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg. He survives.
