ST. MARYS – At 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, police and tactical officers poured into Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys in response to reports of a man with a gun and eight shot inside a wing of the hospital.

PHARE funding to back $6 million Ridgway construction project

A new, $6 million senior housing complex is in the works for Ridgway, funded in large part by a federal tax credit designed to offset the diminishing effects of Marcellus Shale activity on affordable housing statewide.

ST. MARYS – The 4th Annual Kick the Crap Out of MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Outhouse Race is set to take over Market Street in downtown St. Marys on Saturday afternoon. Entries are being accepted until the day of the event and there is a cost to enter.

Rams advance to PIAA quarterfinals

BUTLER – Johnsonburg is making quite a habit of winning in the PIAA playoffs.
After a run to the state title game in basketball earlier this year, Johnsonburg baseball is no exception as the Rams won their PIAA playoff opener 5-0 over Western Beaver Monday afternoon at Pullman Park in Butler.
Johnsonburg will now play District 6 champion Bishop McCort Thursday in the PIAA quarterfinals with a game site and time yet to be announced.
Johnsonburg starting pitcher Cole Peterson was dominant as he struck out 14 Western Beaver hitters in the complete game shutout.

Marigold S. Nelson

June 3, 2013

Marigold S. Nelson, 68, of 102 Center St., Ridgway, passed away, Sunday, June 2, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 10, 1945, in Concord, New Hampshire, the daughter of Harry and Shirley Woodworth Brown.
On July 1, 1967, she married John Nelson, he survives.

Edith E. Harriger

June 3, 2013

Edith E. Harriger, 94 was called home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2013. She passed away at home from natural causes. She was born July 1, 1918 in Halton.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Harriger owned a laundromat and a grocery store, ultimately retiring from the Franklin Mint. She retired to Florida in 1980.
