Ramettes take pair of wins from Lady Wolves

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Ramettes finished Wednesday with a pair of wins over Kane at Knothole Area Recreational Park.
The Ramettes won 12-5 in the regularly scheduled game and finished a suspended game with a 16-2 win in five innings. The Ramettes led 12-2 coming into the fifth inning and scored four runs in the top of the fifth.
"The two wins helped us, I think our record is at 5-3," Johnsonburg coach Melissa Myers said. "With the weather being so bad and not being able to play, the girls were really looking forward to that."

Lady Crusaders down DuBois Central Catholic

ST. MARYS – The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders picked up their eighth win of the season on Wednesday afternoon in frigid temperatures as they defeated the visiting DuBois Central Catholic Lady Cardinals by a 3-0 score.
Taylor Schlimm recorded her seventh shutout of the season as she went the distance in striking out 13, issuing no walks and giving up four hits.
Taylor Thomas took the loss for the DuBois Central girls as she gave up six hits, struck out two and issued five free passes.

Johnsonburg rallies for 6-4 win over Crusaders

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg baseball rallied with a 4-run sixth inning to take a 6-4 victory over Elk County Catholic Monday afternoon at Knothole Area Recreational Park.
The Crusaders had a 4-2 lead entering the home half of the sixth inning but the Rams sent nine hitters to the plate en route to taking the lead. Mitchell Holmberg led the inning off by being hit by a pitch. He moved to second on a passed ball. After a flyout, Zac Luhr singled up the middle to move Holmberg to third and Quinn Luhr followed with a single of his own to plate Holmberg, pushing the lead to 4-3.

Johnsonburg softball falls in six innings against Lady Rovers, 14-2

JOHNSONBURG – Brockway's Jalina Sabatose broke through Monday afternoon for a 5-RBI performance as the visiting Lady Rovers halted the Ramettes in six innings, 14-2.
While both teams saw consistent hitting from the first six batters of their respective lineups, it was Brockway who broke through as the top six accounted for seven of the team's 14 runs. The Ramettes mustered only two runs the entire game.

Elkers lose in completion of suspended game

ST. MARYS – In the completion of a suspended game, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders defeated the Ridgway Elkers by a 14-3 score in five innings.
The game was started on Wednesday and suspended in the home half of the third inning when Mother Nature took over. It was completed Friday night following the ECC vs. SMA contest.
In the home half of the third inning on Friday, Elk Catholic scored two runs. Luke Daghir walked then stole second. Ben Daghir singled. Wtih two outs, Kyle Schneider singled scoring both Luke and Ben making the score 12-1.

Crusaders hand Dutch 8-1 setback

ST. MARYS – It felt more like football weather than baseball Friday afternoon at Berwind Park, where the Elk County Catholic Crusaders handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen an 8-1 setback.
The Crusaders were the first to get on the scoreboard as they were able to score twice in the second inning and twice in the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead. They were able to add four runs in the fifth inning.
“Ben (Daghir) set the tone for the game with his good outing. We were able to get two runs in the second to go on top,” said ECCHS coach Father Eric Vogt.

St. Marys baseball outslugs Ridgway, 21-11 at Sandy Beach

An abundance of offense was on display at Sandy Beach Recreational Park as St. Marys baseball won 21-11 in five innings over Ridgway Thursday afternoon.
St. Marys scored three or more runs in every inning. Ridgway scored in four of its five innings. The 11 runs in the game was Ridgway's largest output of the season.
"We continue to make strides," Ridgway coach Mark Morelli said. "If we continue to make strides, I think we'll be more competitive than we have been lately. If you play St. Marys, you got to hit every inning because they have a good-hitting team."

Lady Dutch softball defeats Ridgway, 9-0

ST. MARYS – The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team raised their record to 5-2 on the season with a 9-0 victory over the Ridgway Lady Elkers.
The game was played at Benzinger Park due to unplayable conditions at the SMAHS field.
St. Marys used a five-run, four-hit first inning to take charge of the contest.
“We hit the ball well today but they (Ridgway) played well defensively,” said St. Marys coach Manny Gerarge. “We made good contact today.”

Lady Crusaders use strong hitting to down Ridgway

Elk County Catholic pounded the softball and had a 13-run second inning en route to a 21-2, 3-inning win over Ridgway Wednesday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
ECC had every starter get a hit, the top four hitters combined for nine hits overall.

JOHNSONBURG – The Elk County Catholic Crusader tennis team handed the Johnsonburg Rams a 7-2 loss Tuesday afternoon at the Johnsonburg courts.
“We played strong today, especially in our singles, in both wins and losses, our guys like to compete. One thing that’s been a positive, especially in our singles, is that if we start out with a good momentum, we tend to keep it through the match’s entirety, which helps a lot with on-court confidence,” said ECCHS coach Nick Caggiano.
At first singles, J. P. Allegretto of the Rams defeated Shane Mancuso 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
