JOHNSONBURG â€“ Kane senior Kaila Jamerson wouldn't let the Lady Wolves lose to the Ramettes Monday night.
A series of six straight points by Jamerson would propel the Lady Wolves first into double overtime and then to a lead Kane would not relinquish as the Lady Wolves won 42-37 in double overtime over Johnsonburg Monday night at Johnsonburg Area High School.
Jamerson led all scorers with 15 points for Kane, two points shy of tying Bree Bergman's school record of 1,085 career points.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders held on for a 38-34 Allegheny Mountain League over the Johnsonburg Ramettes Saturday night at the ECCHS gym.
JOHNSONBURG â€“Â The Johnsonburg Rams (15-1) got another big night from junior Cameron Grumley en route to a 60-37 win Friday over visiting Elk County Catholic.
The junior had 21 points on the night while fellow junior Cole Peterson put in 14 points.
A complete effort equaled a complete victory for the Elkers Friday night.
Ridgway took control in the first quarter and would build the lead throughout in a 71-30 victory over AML South foe DuBois Central Catholic Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
The Bradford Owls outscored the Elk County Catholic Crusaders by a 6-3 margin in overtime Wednesday night to take over sole possession of the District 9 League with a 5-0 record. Bradford won the game 42-39.
The Crusaders led by a 36-34 score with 2:14 left in regulation. Bradford's Tyler Wilber tied the game at 36 with 1:19 left. The Crusaders then held the ball for the last shot but were unable to convert forcing the four minute overtime period.
The weather outside was bitter cold but Ridgway's three-point shooting was anything but against Curwensville.
The Elkers used a barrage of eight three-pointers against the Golden Tide in a 70-31 victory over their AML South counterparts Tuesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Junior Cameron Grumley had a career night with 25 points Tuesday night as the Rams (14-1) dominated Sheffield (4-6) in an 82-43 rout.
Grumley, who scored 13 points alone in the first quarter, was joined in double digits by fellow junior Cole Peterson with 14 points, and senior Mitchell Holmberg with 13.
ST. MARYS â€“ St. Marys Area Lady Dutch senior Adair Gennocro became the school's newest 1,000 point scorer on Monday evening as the Lady Dutch picked up a 42-10 victory over the Ridgway Lady Elkers at the SMAHS Dutch Oven. Gennocro entered the game needing just three points to reach the 1,000 mark and achieved that honor near the end of the opening quarter. She was 1-for-2 from the foul line with 2:29 left before the end of the quarter and then sank a field goal to score the final two points with 1:48 remaining.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Lights out.
After the Johnsonburg Rams (13-1) stormed the floor to pre-game introductions complete with spotlight theatrics in a dark gymnasium, the show continued as they shot lights out for an extensive early lead, and eventually prevailed in a 49-29 win Friday night over visiting Ridgway (11-3).
Johnsonburg girls basketball won 59-14 over Ridgway Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Johnsonburg had a balanced scoring attack with Chelsea Benson leading the way with 13 points. Brittany Watts and Kathryn Polaski had 10 points and Rhianon Fowler had nine points.
"We worked on a couple plays," Johnsonburg coach Mike Zilkofski said. "The press worked well for us. We needed a little work on that and it helped."
