Johnsonburg softball swept a doubleheader with Bradford Thursday afternoon at Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School.
The Ramettes won 14-7 in the first game and then took the nightcap 13-3.
KANE â€“ The Kane Wolves hosted the Johnsonburg Rams for a baseball game at Pat Santilli Field on Thursday afternoon. The Rams jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings and held off a Kane comeback to post a 12-6 win.
Cole plans to attend Penn College and become an electrician. Cole made academic honors in high school. Also he received the Coaches Award and defensive MVP in football. He is also a member of the Big 30 all-star team and AML all-star. He states it has always been a goal of his to play in the Charities Classic and looks forward to playing his last football game. His most memorable moments playing football were scoring touchdowns and making big hits on defense. He lists his hobbies as hunting, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Elk County Catholic baseball won 6-0 over Johnsonburg Monday afternoon at Knothole Park.
ECC was spurred on by a four-run first inning, a lead the Crusaders kept throughout the rest of the game.
The on-and-off rain and chilling winds did little to faze Elk County Catholic as the Lady Crusaders toppled Johnsonburg 13-3 Monday in five innings.
Starting pitcher Sydney Hoffman gave up three runs on four hits in three innings before Abbey Bauer retired the final six batters for the win. Marissa Heary swatted a three-run blast to right center field in the top of the third inning as part of ECC's 13-run outburst.
The Ridgway High School trap shooting team took on St. Marys South at the Fox Township Sportsmenâ€™s Club in recent action.
St. Marys South won the match 129-125.
For Ridgway, Jeremiah Amacher had the top team score by hitting 23 of 25 possible targets. Ricky Marzella was next with a 22. Brock Cook and Tyler Shilk each had scores of 21 for Ridgway. Kyle Hamilton, Tonya Harlan and Luke Pierce had scores of 19 for Ridgway to round out the top six.
Ridgway boys golfer Josh Roselli will be playing on the links at the collegiate level.
Roselli signed a letter of intent to attend St. Bonaventure University to play menâ€™s golf starting next season.
The current Ridgway Area High School senior won the District 9 Class AA Individual Golf Championship in 2014 as he won a four-hole playoff at the Punxsutawney Country Club to earn the award. Roselli also helped the Elkers to a pair of District 9 Class AA team championships in 2013 and 2014.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Johnsonburg track and field swept Smethport in action Tuesday afternoon at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The Johnsonburg girls won 75-53 in the team meet and the boys won the team meet 99-50.
With inclement weather threatening, the Elk County Catholic and Johnsonburg softball teams were able to complete just enough of their game Monday afternoon to make it count.
The contest was originally scheduled to be a home game for the Ramettes, but the weather resulted in it being moved to Benzinger Park and changed to a home game for ECC. The Lady Crusaders ended up winning the weather-shortened contest 10-2 in five innings.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ One big inning was enough for Johnsonburg baseball to remain at zero losses for the season.
A six-run third inning helped the Johnsonburg Rams to a 7-2 win over Eisenhower Saturday at Knothole Park on a sunny day.
