Ridgway's seniors filled up the stat sheet and filled up the win column for the Elkers on Senior Night.
A strong effort by the Ridgway seniors helped the Elkers to a 68-40 win over Sheffield Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Seniors Joe Horning, Dustin Cowan and Mason Stark were honored before the game.
JOHNSONBURG â€“Â Starting off on the wrong foot Friday night doomed the Ramettes.
Johnsonburg and Curwensville were evenly matched for three quarters but the Ramettes were unable to overcome at 14-3 first-quarter deficit, succumbing to a 51-42 loss.
The visiting Ridgway Elkers trailed the Kane Wolves boysâ€™ basketball team 9-8 going into the locker room at halftime. Whatever the Elker coaching staff said during the break must have sunk in, because Ridgway came out and outscored the home team 21-10 during the next eight minutes on their way to posting a 42-24 win in the Wolvesâ€™ Den on Wednesday night.
Early on, Ridgway sophomore Jeremy Breier made it clear he could handle the offensive load against Brockway.
Breier scored a game-high 22 points and the first 10 points of the game as Ridgway defeated AML South foe Brockway 43-20 in boys basketball action Monday night at Ridgway Area High School.
JOHNSONBURG â€“Â The Johnsonburg Rams (16-3) had three players in double figures Monday night in a 74-38 win over the visiting Kane Wolves (5-11).
Seniors Cameron Grumley and Cole Peterson stood head and shoulders above the rest with 26 and 22 points, respectively, following by teammate Zane Hodgdon with 14 points.
The Wolves were led by Jeff Kocjancic with 14 points and Kevin Cleer with 11.
The Elk County Catholic Crusaders pulled off a big 67-66 victory over the Johnsonburg Rams on Friday night in a contest played in front of a packed house at the ECCHS gymnasium.
Both teams battled hard from start to finish, and fans of both teams helped create an exciting atmosphere throughout the contest.
"The fan support was outstanding," said ECC head coach Aaron Straub. "They were as good as they get from start to finish. It was a fun atmosphere all the way around."
JOHNSONBURG â€“ The Lady Crusaders used a strong defensive attack in addition to transition points to pull away from the Ramettes Friday night in a 51-26 victory.
Johnsonburg senior Chelsea Benson paced all scorers with 11 points but ECC easily took the game with balanced scoring as five Lady Crusaders scored between six to nine points in the win.
DuBois Central Catholic basketball led throughout in a 58-18 win over Ridgway Friday night at Ridgway Area High School.
Redbank Valley wrestling won 55-9 over Ridgway in a dual meet held at Ridgway Area High School Thursday night.
Redbank Valley won eight of the 10 matches wrestled on the mat and picked up four wins via forfeit for the dual victory.
JOHNSONBURG â€“ Four wins by fall to go with five forfeits was more than enough Thursday night as Smethport won 57-14 in a dual meet over the Johnsonburg Rams.
Junior Cody Duchi and senior Matt Reeves won by fall at 120 and 182 pounds, respectively, and senior Justin Haupright earned a decision at 220 pounds for the Rams.
